So crowns and bridges are something that we do a lot of in this office. We’ve got patients that come in that maybe have an old filling that was done as a child that either has come out or the tooth has broken and we’re needing to put something to hold the tooth together. Unlike a filling that tends to go down into the tooth, a lot of times crowns are more from a supportive standpoint to make sure that the teeth don’t break. We have a mill here in this office that allows us to do that all in the same day, which is a huge deal for us. We don’t have to have the patient go home in a temporary. We’re able to do the procedure and get the crown on all in the same visit. So to be able to do that comfortably and here and not waste a bunch of time is something that we would definitely like to do.
As far as from bridge standpoint, patients are missing teeth all the time. So patients that maybe had a procedure done when they were younger and didn’t necessarily like that, that had to be missing a tooth and now it’s time to try and put something permanent in that position, then again, we have a mill in this office. We can make bridges in the office if that’s needed that day. And then we’re able to put a tooth back in the position that it was in and put people back in function.
Show Off a Complete Smile With Crowns & Bridges
Dental crowns and dental bridges are the workhorses of restorative dentistry. Your dentist can use them in a variety of ways to put your smile back in order and help preserve your oral health.
Crowns are tooth-shaped caps that we can place over the top of a damaged tooth to help restore its function and appearance. It will give you back a complete smile and strong bite, Plus, it will help prevent further problems with the tooth. To place your crown, we will:
- Take impressions with our iTero digital scanner
- Send the information to our on-site milling machine
- Make your new crown while you wait (no need to return to have your crown placed)
- Position the crown, so it fits perfectly and blends in with your other teeth
A bridge will replace one or more missing teeth in a row. It will anchor on either end to your healthy teeth, with an artificial tooth or teeth in the middle. A bridge will fill in the gap in your smile and make biting and chewing easier.
You also have the option of anchoring your new crown or bridge to dental implants. Implants will replace a single missing tooth when used with a crown or replace several teeth in a row with a bridge. Unlike other kinds of replacement teeth, implants prevent bone loss in your jaw.
